Wanting an engagement session to portray an authentic slice of everyday life, as well as do something a little different with a little bit of experimentation thrown in, we decided to thread a little off the usual path and start the shoot as the sun was about to set.
This quaint art deco apartment they share in Hawthorn is where the everyday magic happens, and cozying up on the couch enjoying a glass of their favourite gin & tonic was the perfect place to start, before we made our way to the city for a memorable night out.
The cinematic scenes we encountered in the city felt like they were straight out of a Wong Kar Wai movie, with the faint buzz of neon lights illuminating the dark alleyways – capturing these moment on actual cinema film stock using rolls of Cinestill Tungsten 800 film in glorious medium format with a Contax 645, beautifully developed and scanned by Ikigai Camera Film Lab.
We ended the night with a bit of experimental fun, recreating those Mulder & Scully X-Files vibes, setting off smoke bombs in an empty lot for a good dose of mysterious romance!
